Main duties of the job
What you'll be doing
As a Bank Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist, you will:

• Assess, manage and deliver interventions for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs.
• Provide universal, targeted and specialist support across a range of settings.
• Work collaboratively with families, schools, education staff and multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Support children and young people to develop their communication, independence and participation.
• Contribute to positive outcomes that help children and young people reach their full potential.

We provide community health services across Lambeth and Southwark, bringing specialist care closer to children, young people and families.

Our Speech & Language Therapy teams are based at the Mary Sheridan Centre and Sunshine House Children's and Young People's Development Centre , delivering services in community clinics, schools, nurseries, children's centres, family hubs, child development centres and family homes.

Professional/Statutory Registration
Essential

• Membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks

Qualifications and Education
Essential

• Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
• Continued Professional Development Portfolio including evidence of reflective practice, in-service training, courses attended and experience gained
• Completion of RCSLT newly qualified practitioner competences

Desirable

• A British sign language qualification
• Membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks

Previous Experience
Essential

• Experience of working as a Speech and Language Therapist with a paediatric caseload.
• Independently manages own time and prioritise tasks including caseload management
• Works closely with team members and external partners to review client care and make recommendations for improvements

Desirable

• Experience in contributing to policy planning and service development

Skills/Knowledge/Ability
Essential

• Specialist knowledge of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions relevant to client groups and settings and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits underpinned by evidence based practice
• Knowledge of EYFS and National Curriculum, - understanding of curriculum differentiation and environmental adaptations.
• Knowledge and experience of clinical supervision and the ability to engage with others in reflective practice
• Ability to use ICT for clinical and administrative tasks
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Specialist clinical/technical skills for interpretative assessment techniques and interventions

Physical Requirements
Essential

• Ability to deliver services in a range of settings, independently planning own travel
• Ability to work in other than ideal conditions

• Driving/ Cycling
