Senior/Lead Backend Engineer

By selling directly to consumers we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers. We're hiring a Senior/Lead Backend Engineer to build the core digital infrastructure for a next-generation energy company. You'll work closely with product across the full back-end and engineer backend systems that are second to none. ResponsibilitiesOwn systems end-to-end, from design and architecture through to production, with a high degree of autonomy as an individual contributor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Building the inference layer for our AI workloads, serving millions of prompts per day across customer support and meter-reading OCR, and migrate workloads onto our own GPU infrastructure.Working on one of the core data challenges in energy: settlement data can arrive months after delivery, requiring systems that support continuous recalculation as new data becomes available.Developing our real-time billing engine, including per-customer ordering and idempotency, audit trails, and pricing based on half-hourly meter data.Building and extending our trading and hedging systems, covering forward markets, portfolio optimisation, and reconciliation against exchanges we trade on directly....and more.Requirements Demonstrable excellence as a software engineerIdeally 2+ years of experience (We’re hiring across levels, from mid-level engineers to Heads of Engineering)Proven ability to define and build complex systemsHands-on experience shipping highly available production systemsClear communicationBenefits Competitive salary and eligibility for equityBiannual bonus schemeFully expensed tech to match your needsPrivate health insuranceBreakfast and dinner allowance for office-based employees As we hire globally, benefits vary by location.
