About the Role – Graduate English Teaching Assistant
This Graduate English Teaching Assistant role is ideal for those ready to immerse themselves in secondary education. Your duties will include:
- Providing literacy-focused support to students, both in small groups and individually.
- Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and challenging English lessons.
- Supporting pupils in preparation for GCSE English exams and coursework.
- Encouraging students to develop analytical thinking and a genuine passion for reading and writing.
- Helping to remove barriers to learning, especially around reading fluency and written expression.
- Creating learning resources and helping maintain a well-organised and dynamic classroom.
- Collaborating with SEN and pastoral teams to ensure holistic support for every learner.
What We’re Looking For – Graduate English Teaching Assistant
We want to hear from graduates who are:
- Educated to degree level (2:1 or above) in English, English Literature, or a closely related subject.
- Academically strong, with a solid track record in English at both A-Level and GCSE.
- Enthusiastic about supporting students of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Clear communicators with strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Reflective, reliable, and keen to develop a long-term career in education.
- Previous experience working with young people is advantageous but not essential.
