Salary: £28,000 £32,000 per year + Benefits

The Job
As a Functional Skills Tutor (Maths & English) , you will play a key role in supporting learners through their apprenticeships, ensuring they achieve essential skills in English and Maths. Your responsibilities will include:

Planning, delivering, and teaching engaging Functional Skills sessions (online and face-to-face)

Completing diagnostic assessments and creating learning plans tailored to individual needs

Embedding Functional Skills into apprenticeship programmes, particularly within the construction sector

Monitoring learner progress, providing feedback, and supporting achievement of learning goals
-
Preparing learners for exams through mock assessments and constructive feedback
-
Maintaining accurate learner records and ensuring compliance with awarding body requirements

Working closely with instructors to embed English and Maths into wider programme delivery

Ensuring safeguarding and promoting a safe learning environment for all learners
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and motivated tutor with:

A recognised teaching qualification (CTLLS or above)
-
Experience teaching English and Maths Functional Skills (ideally up to Level 2)
-
Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse learners
-
Good IT skills and experience with diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring
-
Knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent, and equality and diversity requirements
-
A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage time effectively
-
A full, clean driving licence and enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Experience teaching within construction apprenticeships would be advantageous.
