The Business

Our client is a well established supplier to the UK high street. They are now seeking a Technical Manager to join their team in London. The role is to manage their UK and overseas technical teams.

The ideal candidate MUST have experience working within a supplier in the UK, as this is a customer facing role.

The Role

• Oversee all fit sessions by your team across menswear, in-house and at source, balancing speed and quality; making commercial decisions with confidence; owning the fitting process and inspiring trust and confidence from team and suppliers.
• Ensuring that the Garment Technologists send clear, concise and accurate comments to manufacturers/suppliers; the team processes samples in a timely and agile manner, in line with KPI’s.
• Liaising with design, buying and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development with the aim of reducing costs and improving quality.
• Ensuring compliance with product safety and reach legislation; assessing risk, advising on relevant testing; recording and resolving non-compliance effectively and efficiently.
• Contributing to initiatives to reduce customer returns.
• Promoting quality at all times, whilst maintaining a strong commercial attitude.

Skills And Experience

• Previous experience as a Technical Manager ideally with a UK supplier
• A technically oriented qualification, preferably at degree level, is essential.
• Confident and assertive individual, with ability to manage their own fit sessions.
• Comprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential.
• Pattern cutting knowledge and practise is very desirable alongside knowledge of grading and grade rules.
• Experience of working directly with factories, and thorough understanding of factory production, including work-flow and production control.
• First class communication skills.
• An interest in overseas travel desirable.
• Able to meet new challenges with a positive attitude.
• Strong time-management skills; able to prioritise tasks and change direction with agility.
• Confident using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Keen to expand skill set as the role demands.
