The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher and leader to shape the future of Music at Bishop Ramsey. The successful candidate will lead the department’s curriculum and extra-curricular programme, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and musical engagement across the school.

Music plays an important role in the life of the school, including concerts, productions, ensembles and the annual Carol Service. The department benefits from well-equipped music teaching rooms, practice spaces and a dedicated music technology room , supporting a broad and engaging curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and management of the Music Department

  • Ensure outstanding teaching and learning across Key Stages 3–5

  • Lead curriculum development and raise student achievement in Music

  • Manage and support music teaching staff and peripatetic teachers

  • Lead and develop the school’s extra-curricular music programme, including concerts and performances

  • Promote Music as a central part of the cultural life of the school

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a passion for Music education

  • Has the ability to inspire students and staff alike

  • Demonstrates strong leadership and organisational skills

  • Has experience of contributing to or leading extra-curricular music activities

  • Is committed to the values and ethos of a Church of England school

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
