The Opportunity

Wayman Education is seeking a creative and inspiring Music Teacher to join a vibrant and well-resourced department in Hillingdon . This is a fantastic opportunity for a specialist who can cultivate a love for music across the school, from fostering foundational skills in younger students to mentoring advanced musicians at GCSE and A-Level.

The Role

You will have the opportunity to shape the school's musical identity through both classroom teaching and a thriving extracurricular program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach Music across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) , with potential for A-Level or BTEC Level 3 based on experience.

  • Practical & Theory: Balance the development of practical performance skills with a deep understanding of music theory, composition, and historical context.

  • Music Technology: Utilize the school's digital suites (e.g., Logic Pro, GarageBand, or Sibelius) to teach modern composition and recording techniques.

  • Extracurricular Enrichment: Lead and grow school ensembles, such as choirs, orchestras, or rock bands, and coordinate termly concerts and community performances.

The School

The school is a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Hillingdon , benefiting from modern facilities including dedicated practice rooms, a recording studio, and a performance hall. The school prides itself on its "Broad and Balanced" curriculum, where the Arts are treated as an essential pillar of student development.

Why join this team?

  • Strategic Location: Located in West London with excellent transport links via the Elizabeth Line, Metropolitan Line, and major road networks (M4/M40).

  • Creative Freedom: A department that encourages teachers to bring their own musical specialisms—whether classical, jazz, or contemporary—into the classroom.

  • Collaborative Support: Work within a Creative Arts faculty that values interdisciplinary projects with Drama and Art.

  • Professional Growth: Access to tailored CPD and opportunities for leadership within the Performing Arts.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • A degree in Music or Music Production .

  • Proficiency in at least one instrument (Piano or Guitar is advantageous).
