Drivers Mate

Here at GXO, we’re working together with B&Q and are looking for Drivers Mate to join our Store to Home team in Beckton (E6 6LG).
You’ll be working on a full-time , permanent basis, following a two-week rotating shift pattern: Week 1 – Monday to Friday / Week 2 – Tuesday to Saturday, with a start time of 07:00. The role is contracted to 40 hours per week.

As a Drivers Mate, you’ll receive:
- An hourly rate of £14.05 , that is an annual salary of £29,224.00
- Overtime pay of £21.08 per hour (when applicable, paid over 40hrs)

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Work as a part of two-person team delivering products to customer premises (room of choice) on multidrop basis – an average of 16 drops per day off peak and 24 drop per day in peak season
- Assist the delivery driver in parking and manoeuvring a company vehicle as well as loading and unloading of vehicles as and when required
- Provide effective customer service while ensuring goods are delivered in excellent condition
- Ensure that customers are kept informed of their estimated time of delivery and any issues are communicated in a polite and courteous manner
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Experience of dealing with multi drop home delivery preferred but not essential
- Excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to complete manual handling tasks such as pulling, lifting, and pushing
- Can do attitude with a knack for problem solving
- Willingness to undertake pre-employment Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS Check)
- Be prepared to commute to Beckton (E6 6LG) for the required shift pattern
