Group Clinical Director
About Us
Welbeck is redefining private day surgery.
We are a growing network of specialist, consultant led day-case centres built on a simple belief: medical excellence without compromise. Our centres combine clinical credibility with calm, patient centred environments empowering consultants and teams to deliver exceptional care.
We are seeking a Group Clinical Director to strengthen the way clinical standards, operational delivery and performance come together across our network.
This is a senior, high impact leadership role operating across multiple centres and influencing both clinical and operational communities ensuring that growth is underpinned by consistency, safety and strong professional standards.
The Opportunity
The Group Clinical Director sits at the centre of Welbeck’s clinical leadership community, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Centre Directors, Divisional leaders and Consultant Partners.
You will play a pivotal role in aligning consultant led partnership with practical delivery, ensuring that clinical autonomy and entrepreneurial ambition are matched by clear standards, robust governance and operational discipline.
This role combines strategic oversight with hands on operational partnership.
You will:
Strengthen and embed group wide clinical governance frameworks across all centres
Act as a trusted clinical partner to Centre Directors, advising on pathways, service design and operating models
Support consultant engagement and peer level accountability within a partnership model
Ensure that standards translate into consistent, high quality day-to-day delivery
Collaborate closely with the Business Performance function, bringing clinical validity to KPIs, forecasting and reporting
Provide context and challenge to performance trends, shaping interventions that improve safety, quality and sustainability
You will help ensure that every centre reflects the Welbeck standard not just in policy, but in practice.
Why This Role Matters
Welbeck’s model is distinctive: consultant led, partnership based and designed for scale.
As we grow, maintaining consistency without diluting autonomy is critical.
The Group Clinical Director will act as the bridge between strategy and execution translating governance into operational reality, supporting Centre Directors in complex decisions, and ensuring that performance metrics reflect meaningful clinical outcomes.
This is about shaping how a specialist network matures strengthening standards, supporting innovation and building systems that endure.
Who This Will Suit
This opportunity will resonate with a practising clinician who:
Has operated at Clinical Director or senior medical leadership level
Is experienced in consultant led or partnership based environments
Is confident influencing senior peers and operational leaders without relying on hierarchy
Understands both governance frameworks and the realities of day-to-day centre operations
Is comfortable working with performance data and shaping meaningful metrics
Thrives in complex, multi disciplinary healthcare environments
You bring clinical authority, balanced judgement and practical operational insight. You know how to challenge constructively, guide collaboratively and build alignment across professional communities.
Why Join Welbeck
A growing, specialist network with genuine clinical ambition
The opportunity to influence standards across multiple centres
A collaborative leadership culture grounded in partnership
A role that combines strategic thinking with operational impact
This is a senior leadership role for a clinician who wants to shape standards at scale ensuring that quality, performance and patient experience evolve together as Welbeck grows.
