Lead Veterinary Surgeon

Lead Veterinary Surgeon – Hello Vet

At Hello Vet, we’re redefining what modern veterinary care looks like, and that starts with creating the best possible environment for our people.

As a Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping both clinical excellence and team culture within your clinic. You’ll be empowered with the tools, structure, and support needed to deliver the highest quality of care, while also leading and developing a high-performing, engaged team. Just as importantly, we’re committed to protecting your work-life balance, so you can thrive both professionally and personally.

You’ll have the clinical freedom to practise contextualised care, tailoring your approach to the individual needs of each patient and their family, while guiding your team to do the same.

Why Hello Vet?

Hello Vet is built on a simple belief: if we create the best place for our teams to work, we create the best place for pets to receive care.

We foster meaningful relationships between vets, clients, and patients, from enabling direct messaging with our team to supporting owners during procedures. As a Lead Vet, you’ll champion this approach, helping your team deliver truly personalised care and exceptional client experiences.

Our purpose-built clinics and technology-driven systems are designed to support you and your team, reduce admin, and allow more time for what matters most: patient care.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the clinical team to deliver outstanding patient care

  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture

  • Supporting clinical governance, standards, and continuous improvement within the practice

  • Coaching and supporting less experienced vets and nurses in their development

  • Working collaboratively with the wider Hello Vet network and leadership team

  • Balancing clinical responsibilities with leadership and operational oversight

  • Championing our approach to contextualised, relationship-led care

  • Driving team engagement, wellbeing, and retention

What You Can Expect at Hello Vet

  • A modern, bespoke clinic environment

  • A large, collaborative clinical team

  • A dedicated digital care team supporting your patients

  • Structured schedules that give you time to catch your breath

  • Contextualised care as the standard

  • An unlimited CPD budget and clear career progression pathways

  • A growth-oriented organisation that is constantly evolving

  • Thoughtful onboarding and leadership development support

  • A bespoke technology platform to reduce admin time

  • A vibrant, supportive culture focused on improving veterinary care

What You’ll Receive

  • £80,000+ per year (depending on experience and leadership capability)

  • Equity within the business

  • Wellbeing support including paid lunch breaks, free lunch and snacks

  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and mental health first aiders

  • Free veterinary care for your pets and cost-price medications/labs

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You:

  • Are an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with at least 5-10 years’ experience in general practice

  • Have experience mentoring or leading others (or are ready to step into a leadership role)

  • Communicate with empathy and lead with integrity

  • Are passionate about developing people and building strong teams

  • Want to be part of a culture that is challenging the norm and improving veterinary care

Our Culture

We are incredibly proud of the team we’ve built and the care we provide. At Hello Vet, caring for people is just as important as caring for patients.

We prioritise wellbeing, celebrate success, and create an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to grow. As a Lead Vet, you’ll play a key role in shaping that culture every day.
