Interim Legal Counsel (12 month FTC)

Business Overview: A global financial services technology group headquartered in the US, with a diverse portfolio of software and services businesses. The group has grown through strategic acquisitions, including a leading virtual data room provider, a UK-headquartered automation software company, and a global fund transaction network. The London office is one of the largest hubs outside the US.

Legal Team Structure:

• The legal function is lean but with global coverage across the US, EMEA, and APAC.
• The role sits within the legal team of a well-known virtual data room business, supporting M&A transactions and AI-driven deal work.
• The role reports into the Senior Counsel for EMEA, based in London.

Role Overview:

• Position: Interim Legal Counsel (12-14 month maternity cover)
• Start Date: Mid-October to allow for a handover
• Location: London (hybrid working, 2-3 days/week in office)

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating SaaS agreements with large corporates and financial institutions
• Advising on commercial contracts and data protection matters (including GDPR)
• Working primarily on the company’s standard form contracts
• Supporting a fast-paced, high-volume business unit with global reach

Candidate Profile:

• Qualified Solicitor (in UK or other jurisdiction)
• Minimum 2-3 years’ PQE
• Experience in tech, commercial contracts, and data protection
• SaaS contract experience strongly preferred
• Open to candidates from private practice or in-house backgrounds
