We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and committed Year 2 Teacher to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Chingford, starting as soon as possible. This is a key role supporting pupils as they complete Key Stage 1, consolidate core skills, and prepare for the transition into Lower Key Stage 2.

The school has a strong focus on high-quality teaching, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to provide a supportive learning environment where children are encouraged to achieve their best academically and socially. Leadership is approachable and committed to supporting professional development at all stages of a teacher’s career.

The Role

As a Year 2 Teacher, you will take responsibility for planning and delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum. You will use assessment effectively to monitor progress, identify learning gaps, and ensure pupils are well prepared for the transition into Year 3. Developing pupils’ confidence, independence, and resilience will be central to your classroom practice.

You will work closely with teaching assistants, phase colleagues, and senior leaders to maintain consistency across Key Stage 1. Clear communication with parents and carers will also be a key aspect of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons in line with the Year 2 curriculum

  • Prepare pupils academically and emotionally for transition into Key Stage 2

  • Use assessment to track progress and inform planning

  • Differentiate learning to support pupils of all abilities, including SEND and EAL

  • Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and confidence

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and colleagues

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers

  • Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and school development initiatives

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2

  • Be confident in assessment, moderation, and curriculum delivery

  • Have strong classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable

  • Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion and safeguarding

  • Work well as part of a collaborative team

Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply and will receive mentoring and support.
