Receptionist – Welcoming Secondary School – Richmond upon Thames

The Role

The school is seeking a professional and organised Receptionist to join its administrative team.

The reception area is the first point of contact for visitors, parents and students, making this a highly visible and important role within the school. The successful candidate will ensure the front office operates smoothly while providing a friendly and efficient service to everyone who visits or contacts the school.

This role requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the first point of contact for visitors, parents and external agencies

  • Greeting visitors and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed

  • Managing incoming phone calls and email enquiries

  • Supporting the administration team with general clerical duties

  • Maintaining visitor logs and reception records

  • Assisting with student enquiries and directing them to appropriate staff

  • Supporting school events and meetings with administrative assistance

  • Ensuring the reception area remains organised and welcoming

Person Specification

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail

  • Confidence using office software and administrative systems

  • A friendly and professional approach

  • The ability to remain calm and efficient in a busy environment

  • A commitment to supporting the school community

Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role would be advantageous.
