Stormont House School Headteacher
Stormont House School is seeking an exceptional individual to take on the role of Headteacher at our highly regarded secondary special school for students aged 11–17.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a thriving and inclusive school community dedicated to supporting young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
At Stormont House, every student is recognised not only for their needs but also for their untapped strengths and talents. Our mission is to nurture these abilities while providing the support and challenge necessary to prepare each student for a successful and fulfilling adulthood. We take pride in celebrating diversity, particularly as many of our students are neurodivergent and bring unique perspectives to our community.
The school is known for its strong sense of belonging, mutual respect, and inclusive ethos. Students, families, and staff alike value the warm and supportive environment, with many staff members choosing to spend their entire careers at Stormont House. Our commitment to excellence has been consistently recognised, having been rated ‘Outstanding’ since 2005. Most recently, in April 2024, inspectors highlighted our unwavering focus on preparing pupils for the next stage of their lives.
We offer a rich and engaging curriculum alongside meaningful real-world experiences, including work placements, outdoor education, sports, and performance opportunities. Our modern, light-filled building overlooking Hackney Downs reflects the optimism and ambition that define our school.
The successful candidate will be a strategic and inspiring leader as well as an outstanding teacher. You will be supported by a highly experienced leadership team, including three Deputy Headteachers, a School Business Manager, and a strong group of middle leaders.
This role is a rare opportunity to lead a remarkable school that makes a profound difference in the lives of young people.
Interested? Please read the application pack carefully and download an application form from: education.hackney.gov.uk/jobs . CVs will not be accepted.
Stormont House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
