Catering Technician
If you're the kind of engineer who thrives when the pressure is on and the kitchen is buzzing, we want you on the front lines. We are looking for a Catering Engineer to join the CBRE team, acting as the essential technical partner for our high-end culinary clients. You'll be the expert who ensures that everything from heavy-duty combi ovens to industrial dishwashers stays mission-ready, preventing downtime in some of the busiest kitchens in the business.
What you'll do
- Take full ownership of planned and reactive maintenance across a wide array of commercial catering equipment, ensuring every appliance is safe and ready for service.
- Rapidly respond to emergency breakdowns and reactive helpdesk requests, diagnosing faults and implementing solutions to keep the kitchen operation moving.
- Lead with a safety-first mindset by conducting personal risk assessments and managing permit-to-work systems in line with strict QHSE and food safety standards.
- Act as the professional face of CBRE on-site, building meaningful, trusting relationships with Head Chefs, kitchen team and Facilities Managers.
- Manage your own technical inventory, from sourcing specialised spare parts to arranging procurement through our technical administration team.
- Supervise and guide third-party subcontractors while they are on-site, ensuring their work meets our rigorous quality and safety benchmarks.
- Ensure all repairs and corrective works are carried out to the letter of current regulations, keeping the facility fully compliant.
- Document your impact by completing work orders and service reports promptly, ensuring all tasks are closed out within agreed SLAs.
- Provide expert emergency support during working hours and assist with new kitchen installations or equipment upgrades when required.
- Spot opportunities for improvement by volunteering ideas that boost equipment lifespan and enhance the overall service we deliver to the client.
Why you're the perfect fit
- You have a solid background in maintaining commercial kitchen equipment (Gas, Electrical, or both).
- You hold the necessary qualifications (such as COMCAT or relevant electrical certs) to work safely in a commercial catering environment.
- You can look at a complex piece of kit and find the fix while the kitchen works around you.
- You're comfortable managing your own day and making critical decisions without constant supervision.
- You understand that in a kitchen, time is money, and you communicate with speed and clarity.
At CBRE, we understand that catering engineering is a specialist craft. You'll join a global leader that offers the stability of major contracts, high-quality equipment, and a clear path for professional development. We provide a culture where your expertise is respected and your safety is the number one priority.
Why CBRE
When you join CBRE, you become part of the global leader in commercial real estate services and investment that helps businesses and people thrive. We are dynamic problem solvers and forward-thinking professionals who create significant impact. Our collaborative culture is built on our shared values - respect, integrity, service and excellence - and we value the diverse perspectives, backgrounds and skillsets of our people.
