You will be joining a well-established Humanities Department and teaching RE to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role will involve delivering lessons that encourage students to think critically, express their opinions clearly and engage respectfully with a variety of religious, philosophical and ethical viewpoints.
At KS3, you will introduce students to a broad range of religious traditions, beliefs and practices while developing their ability to ask questions and consider different perspectives. At KS4, you will support students through the GCSE curriculum, helping them develop the knowledge, analytical skills and written structure required for successful examination responses.
The successful candidate will be expected to create a positive classroom environment where students feel confident contributing to discussion. You will plan effectively, assess progress regularly and provide clear feedback to help students improve.
Religious Education Teacher - School Information
The school is an established independent secondary school in Merton which places importance on academic achievement, personal development and preparing students for life beyond school.
The Humanities Department provides students with opportunities to explore important questions surrounding religion, philosophy, morality and society. Lessons encourage students to consider different viewpoints while developing their ability to form and justify their own conclusions.

Religious Education Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy or related Degree
QTS or recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching RE at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4
GCSE Religious Studies experience
Strong knowledge of religious and philosophical concepts
Confident leading classroom discussions
Excellent communication skills
Effective behaviour management
Strong planning and assessment skills
Ability to engage students with different abilities
Salary
The salary for this Religious Education Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
