Overview
The Garment Technologist reports to the Senior Technologist on their department and is responsible for their own product area. The Garment Technologist is responsible for developing each product within their area and ensuring it meets our Boden quality standards. This will include managing relationships with their suppliers and drive improvements in the quality and fit of their own product area.
Hybrid Working at Boden
3-4 days per week at our North Acton office, the rest WFH.
What the Garment Technologist will do:
- Oversee management of labelling and packaging BOMs.
- Oversee management of shipment samples.
- Managing AQL process.
- Managing testing process.
- Presentation of product and feedback from product lockdown meetings.
- Managing wearer trials and fabric development.
- Product fully legally compliant.
- Product developed in line with critical path.
- Fit and risk assess own product area independently.
- Achievement of fit returns target for product area and input to returns analysis – lead returns meetings.
- Proofing of customer communication (bullet point and customer queries).
- Clear communication with suppliers and maintaining good relationships with suppliers.
- Supplier visits carried out and visit reports completed.
- Contribute to supplier appraisal process and supplier allocation process.
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of production.
- Manage critical path for own product area.
- Contribute to strategy packs.
- Technical training of junior team members.
- Develop and support junior members of the wider team.
- Fabric development and contribution to fabric selection process.
- Managing market restrictions.
- Leadership of team.
- 1 to1s carried out.
- Development plans in place.
- Delivery of team’s targets/productivity of team.
- Annual appraisals and mid- year reviews completed on time.
What Boden is looking for:
- Degree or equivalent or relevant experience/qualification.
- Experience working within a similar position.
- Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of pattern and garment construction.
- Knowledge of yarns/fabrics.
- Clear communication skills.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Great time management.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
