The BBC News Audiences team works closely with journalists, editors and content makers to ensure audiences are at the heart of decision-making about the stories we tell. Join us in helping BBC News to deliver value for all audiences across the UK.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
This is an exciting opportunity to have immediate impact on decision-making in the biggest newsroom in the UK in a moment of real strategic change. If you’re interested in what makes people tick, how news habits are rapidly changing, and how to make the best news content for audiences across all platforms, you’ll enjoy being part of our tight-knit, dedicated team.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with editorial teams across TV and iPlayer — from core news programmes (e.g. Breakfast, Newsnight, BBC News at Ten) to long form output such as Panorama and Current Affairs. Become the go to expert for TV and iPlayer performance reporting, helping to design new reporting frameworks that drive data led decision making and help grow digital audiences.

This includes partnering closely with the Audience Intelligence Team and the Measurement Team alongside Content Analytics, Data Science and Product teams to ensure we’re getting the very best out of our data, to derive the very best insights.
- Lead ad hoc research projects using a range of methodologies (e.g. surveys, focus groups) to shape BBC News output across platforms and ensure it best serves UK audiences.

- Proven analytical strengths with confidence working across large, complex datasets.
- Hands on experience using a wide mix of qualitative and quantitative research approaches.
- Excellent communicator, able to transform data into clear, engaging reports, articles, and presentations for stakeholders with varying levels of data expertise.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to adapt quickly and deliver in a fast moving news environment.
- Genuine interest in the UK news and media landscape, wider audience trends, and the context in which BBC News operates.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Experience of audience measurement in platforms such as Piano, TechEdge, Telmar and / or social media analytics.
