Laundry Operative / Garment Care Specialist (Hiring Immediately)

Disaster Care Capital
Brentford, Greater London

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Laundry Operative / Garment Care Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in professional laundry services, including wet cleaning and operating specialised machinery.

Overview

We work with a wide range of items and materials, including all types of textiles, bags, shoes (suede and leather), hats, jackets (puffer jackets, suit jackets, etc.), suits, bedding, blouses and dresses (silk and non-silk), and selected types of curtains.

Our work focuses on restoring items following flood or fire damage, returning them to a pre-loss condition wherever possible.

High-level pressing and finishing skills are essential for this role. This includes suit pressing, steam usage, garment shaping, and professional finishing techniques. Precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of different fabrics are crucial.
All other aspects of the role can be supported with training; however, excellent pressing ability is a core requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Operate industrial laundry equipment, including industrial washing machines (Miele and Esporta), tumble dryers, trouser presses, and garment finishing equipment.
  • Carry out wet cleaning processes on a variety of delicate and complex garments.
  • Inspect garments for stains, damage, and specific cleaning requirements prior to processing.
  • Handle garments with care to ensure the highest quality finish and prevent damage.
  • Monitor machine cycles and make adjustments as required to achieve optimal results.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with health and safety standards.
  • Assist with other laundry-related tasks as required by the supervisor/manager.

    Skills
    • Proven ability to carry out professional wet cleaning.
    • Hands-on experience operating various types of industrial laundry machinery.
    • Specific knowledge and experience in handling and processing suits and jackets is essential.
    • Excellent attention to detail and strong quality-control awareness.
    • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong commitment to health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a professional laundry environment.
  • Demonstrable expertise in wet cleaning, pressing, and finishing techniques.
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new processes and techniques.
  • High level of reliability and a strong work ethic.
