Head of Finance – Insurance MGA - London - Circa £200,000 - Fast growing business

Carlton Young is proud to be partnering with a high-growth, well-backed MGA to appoint a Head of Finance at a critical stage in the company’s development.

This is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking insurance business at the start-up phase, with ambitious plans to scale through technology, data-led underwriting, and a bold M&A strategy. The business is driven by values of trust, support, and long-term partnership — reflected in its approach to clients, carriers, and colleagues alike.

As Head of Finance, you’ll work as a strategic partner to the Group MD, leading all aspects of financial management and governance. You’ll play a central role in building the finance function from scratch, while also supporting growth through acquisitions, investor relations, and ongoing commercial strategy.

This is a truly hands-on leadership role requiring a combination of strategic foresight, technical depth, and operational excellence, including:

* Strategic Leadership: Contribute to overall business direction and lead financial planning to support rapid growth.

* Financial Management: Oversee reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and the development of financial systems and controls.

* M&A Execution: Lead modelling, diligence, deal structuring and integration of acquisitions.

* Investor Relations: Manage key financial stakeholder relationships and support capital raising (debt/equity).

* Team Leadership: Build, lead and develop a high-performing finance team in a fast-moving environment.

We are looking for someone with senior-level finance experience in a high-growth, acquisitive environment from an insurance environment (due to the complex FCA regulations), you will have:

* Strong track record in M&A (from sourcing through to integration).

* Excellent technical finance skills: FP&A, treasury, tax, and regulatory reporting.

* Experience in a start-up or scale-up setting.

* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

* Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and a hands-on approach.

The company are very flexible in terms of building a package that works for the right individual, they are looking for someone who is a strong culture fit for the business as well as having the technical expertise for the role. We are putting a guideline of between £180,000 to £250,000 on this position.
