SEN Teaching Assistant

Teach Now
Barking & Dagenham, Greater London
About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Barking & Dagenham. This is a rewarding role where you’ll work across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

You’ll provide 1:1 support and small group interventions, helping children to develop both academically and emotionally. Every day will bring new challenges and achievements, making this role ideal for someone passionate about inclusion and child development.

About the School

This is a nurturing, community-focused school that puts well-being at the heart of learning. With a strong ethos of inclusivity, the school prides itself on creating a safe and inspiring environment where all pupils can thrive. Staff collaborate closely to deliver a creative, broad curriculum that values the arts, sport, and emotional resilience alongside core learning.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally SEMH.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils.

• A proactive, positive approach to supporting learning and behaviour.

Why Join Us?

• Gain valuable experience in a forward-thinking, inclusive school.

• Work alongside a supportive, passionate team of educators.

• Make a genuine difference in the lives of children every day.

• Benefit from term-time hours that support a healthy work-life balance.

If you are committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning and want to join a school where every individual matters, we’d love to hear from you.
