Legal Counsel in London Area
Job description
Legal Counsel – Data, Technology & Emerging Innovations
London | Hybrid | Permanent
We are looking for a Legal Counsel with experience in tech/AI to join a highly regarded organisation with a high-performing in-house legal team. You will be partnering closely with the General Counsel to support the firm’s digital transformation and responsible adoption of technology.
Overview
This is a pivotal role providing commercially minded, solutions-driven legal advice across a range of matters linked to data, technology, GenAI and emerging digital tools. You’ll help shape the firm’s approach to innovation by enabling business goals while maintaining a strong, consistent legal framework across its international network.
You will collaborate with colleagues across multiple practice areas, ensuring the company remains compliant with evolving global regulatory standards and up to date with developments in data and AI law.
A key aspect of the role will involve working closely with senior leaders and partners—both legal and business-focused—to embed best practice, drive change, and deliver clear, practical guidance at pace.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on legal, regulatory and professional obligations relating to data use, technology, GenAI and emerging innovation.
- Monitor and interpret new global legislation to ensure consistent firm-wide compliance.
- Develop and implement internal policies and governance frameworks for data and technology.
- Support and guide partners and senior management on risk-based decision-making.
- Create and deliver training on data privacy, AI ethics, and emerging technology risks.
- Collaborate across jurisdictions to harmonise the firm’s approach to data management, use and retention.
About You
- Qualified lawyer (minimum 5 years PQE).
- Demonstrated experience—or a strong interest—in technology, data regulation, digital transformation or GenAI.
- Working knowledge of data protection and privacy law.
- Pragmatic, commercial, and confident in advising senior stakeholders.
- Skilled at building strong relationships across legal and business teams in a fast-paced, international environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking legal function at the forefront of change—helping shape the company's future approach to technology and innovation while managing legal risk with agility and insight.
