We are seeking an inspirational, highly strategic, and experienced Head of Science to lead a large and thriving department at a successful secondary school in the vibrant Hammersmith area of West London. Key Responsibilities & Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher and leader with a degree in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics), holding QTS , and possessing a proven track record of raising standards across a large faculty.
As Head of Science, you will be expected to:
- Strategic Vision: Develop and implement an ambitious vision for the Science department, overseeing curriculum design and delivery from KS3 through to A-Level across all three disciplines.
- Team Leadership: Effectively lead, mentor, and performance-manage a large team of specialist teachers and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and shared practice.
- Attainment & Accountability: Use data effectively to drive intervention, monitor student progress, and ensure outstanding outcomes in all Science GCSE and A-Level examinations.
- Resource & Safety: Manage the substantial departmental budget efficiently, ensuring laboratories are fully resourced, well-maintained, and strictly comply with CLEAPSS and all Health & Safety protocols.
- Whole-School Contribution: Serve as a key link to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), contributing to broader school strategy and promoting STEM engagement across the community.
