Finance Officer Role in an Inclusive Secondary School
An Inclusive Secondary School in Merton is seeking to appoint a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join its professional support team. About the Role
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day financial management of the school, ensuring that financial processes are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with school policies and financial regulations.
Working closely with the School Business Manager and senior leadership team, you will process purchase orders and invoices, reconcile accounts, maintain financial records, assist with budget monitoring, and support payroll and audit processes where required.
This is a varied role that would suit an organised finance professional with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a busy school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process purchase orders, invoices, and supplier payments
Reconcile financial transactions and maintain accurate records
Support budget monitoring and financial reporting
Assist with monthly and year-end finance procedures
Maintain the school's finance system and ensure data accuracy
Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and external stakeholders
Support payroll administration and audit preparation where required
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, GDPR, and school policies

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in a finance, accounts, or financial administration role
Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail
Experience using finance software and Microsoft Excel
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to manage confidential financial information with discretion
Desirable
Experience working within a school or educational environment
Knowledge of school finance systems such as FMS, PS Financials, or Access
AAT qualification or willingness to work towards one
Experience supporting budgeting, payroll, or audit processes
