About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Learning Design Consultant based in the United Kingdom to support the delivery of high-quality learning design projects across our client portfolio. The consultant will work closely with Curio’s Learning Services team and client stakeholders to design and deliver impactful, learner-centred experiences across higher education and corporate learning contexts.
Please note: This is a contract position engaged on a project-by-project basis.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Curio project teams and clients to design and develop high-quality online learning experiences.
Apply pedagogical expertise to the design of curriculum, learning activities, and assessments across a range of disciplines.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, academics, and stakeholders to co-design effective and engaging learning solutions.
Contribute to the delivery of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring outputs meet agreed timelines, quality standards, and client expectations.
Produce high-quality student-facing content aligned to relevant frameworks (e.g. UK higher education standards).
Provide input into learning design strategy, innovation, and continuous improvement across projects.
Work effectively in a distributed team environment using digital collaboration tools.
Identify risks or challenges within projects and proactively contribute to solutions.
Skills and Experience
Demonstrated experience (typically 5+ years) in learning design within higher education, online learning, or corporate learning environments.
Strong experience designing and developing online and blended learning content.
Solid understanding of learning theories, pedagogy, and their application in digital environments.
Experience working with learning management systems (e.g. Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard) and digital learning tools.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with academics and senior client stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
High level of written communication, with experience producing clear, engaging learner-facing materials.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a broader project team.
Desirable
Postgraduate qualification in education, learning design, or a related field.
Experience working with UK or European higher education institutions.
Exposure to EdTech tools, interactive media, or innovative digital learning approaches.
Experience contributing to proposals or early-stage solution design.
Working Arrangement
UK-based (remote), with potential collaboration across time zones.
Engagement is contract-based and project-driven, with flexibility depending on project scope and availability.
