SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity in Hanwell – Supporting Children Beyond the Classroom

A nurturing and community-oriented school in Hanwell , within the London Borough of Ealing, is seeking a committed and empathetic Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join its support team. About the Role

Your support will extend beyond lessons, helping pupils navigate transitions, social situations, and unstructured times such as play and lunch.

This role requires patience, consistency, and a genuine commitment to understanding each child’s individual needs. You will be a key part of the child’s support network, offering reassurance, structure, and encouragement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEN in accessing the curriculum and school routines

  • Implement strategies from EHCPs, behaviour plans, and support plans

  • Provide emotional and behavioural support using positive approaches

  • Assist with communication and language development where needed

  • Adapt learning activities and resources to suit individual needs

  • Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times

  • Encourage independence and self-regulation skills

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff

  • Record observations and contribute to progress reviews

Some roles may involve personal care or physical support depending on pupil needs. Full training will be provided, and dignity and safeguarding will always be prioritised.
