The Vitals: What You'll Be Doing
This full-time role is structured to provide you with the perfect foundation for your teaching career, focusing on developing your skills in delivering rigorous and engaging historical instruction across the secondary age range.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Delivery: Teach History effectively across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and GCSE (KS4) , fostering critical thinking, source analysis, and a love for historical inquiry.
- ECT Induction: Fully participate in the school’s comprehensive ECT Induction Programme , benefiting from dedicated non-contact time, regular training, and constructive observation/feedback sessions.
- Curriculum Engagement: Plan and prepare dynamic lessons that cover diverse historical periods, adapting resources to meet the needs of all learners, and utilizing data to monitor student progress.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with your assigned departmental mentor and the wider Humanities team to share ideas, refine your pedagogy, and benefit from the department's collective expertise.
Candidate Profile: What We're Looking For
This position is ideal for a newly or recently qualified teacher with a strong academic background in History and a commitment to continuous professional growth.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualification: A degree in History or a closely related Humanities discipline.
- Certification: Hold, or be expecting to successfully complete, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) upon taking up the post.
- Status: Must be eligible to begin or continue the Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction period.
- Skills: High potential as a classroom practitioner, excellent communication skills, and an eagerness to inspire students with the complexities of the past.
