Caretaker - Bromley

We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands-on Caretaker to join a well-established primary school in Bromley, starting ASAP. This is a key role for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

The school has a strong community ethos and values teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail. As a Caretaker, you will ensure that school buildings and grounds are secure, well-maintained, and fully operational at all times, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the school premises, ensuring cleanliness and safety

• Carry out minor repairs, maintenance, and improvements as required

• Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, and other building systems

• Open and close the school, including securing buildings and grounds

• Assist with the setup and supervision of school events and activities

• Monitor and manage school equipment, tools, and supplies

• Liaise with contractors and service providers when necessary

• Report hazards, maintenance needs, and safety concerns promptly

• Support compliance with health, safety, and security policies

• Work collaboratively with staff to ensure a safe and welcoming environment

The successful candidate will:

• Have previous experience in a caretaker, premises, or maintenance role

• Be proactive, reliable, and practical

• Have hands-on skills for minor repairs and maintenance tasks

• Be organised and able to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently

• Have good communication skills and work well as part of a team

• Be committed to health, safety, and safeguarding standards
