Year 6 Teacher - Hounslow

Marchant Recruitment
Hounslow, Greater London

We are seeking a confident, experienced, and motivated Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Hounslow, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Upper Key Stage 2 and committed to supporting pupils through a crucial year of academic and personal development.

The school has a strong ethos built around high expectations, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to create a structured and engaging learning environment where pupils feel supported, challenged, and motivated to succeed. Senior leadership is approachable and supportive, providing clear guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.

The Role

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons across the Key Stage 2 curriculum, with a strong focus on preparing pupils for SATs and their transition to secondary school. You will support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally, helping them build resilience, independence, and confidence.

You will work closely with teaching assistants, senior leaders, and parents to ensure that all pupils receive consistent support and make strong progress. Targeted interventions, accurate assessment, and high-quality teaching will be key aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 6 curriculum

  • Deliver engaging literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons

  • Prepare pupils effectively for SATs and secondary school transition

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL

  • Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours

  • Maintain a structured, inclusive, and focused classroom environment

  • Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records

  • Deliver targeted interventions to support pupil attainment

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress

  • Contribute to staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisation

  • Be calm, resilient, and adaptable under pressure

  • Show a clear commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing

  • Work effectively as part of a professional and supportive team

Location

The school is located in Hounslow, with excellent transport links and a diverse, supportive local community. Staff benefit from a professional, inclusive, and well-resourced working environment where collaboration, development, and wellbeing are prioritised.
