Convening at Chatham House is our highest profile activity which underpins our global reputation and influence. Convening at Chatham House includes public events, panels and private roundtables as well as our flagship conferences. Whether conducted in public or in private under the Chatham House Rule, events are the central way we explore, advance and influence dialogue.
The Head, Events Programming role is a unique opportunity to influence public debate, curate compelling discussions and drive forward Chatham House’s reputation as a trusted, independent convener.
What you’ll do
Lead the curation and planning of Chatham House’s year-round events, conferences and roundtables and contribute to their delivery.
Work closely with research, communications and fundraising teams to create events that reflect our priorities and reach global audiences.
Build strong relationships with senior speakers, moderators and partners.
Ensure high editorial standards across all programming.
Use insight and analysis to evaluate events, spot trends and innovate for future convening.
Constantly improve our database of contacts and the use of it.
What we're Looking For
Strong editorial and analytical judgement with deep knowledge of global policy and international affairs.
Alertness to political and regional sensitivities; sophistication in framing a debate to bring out differences of opinion and highlight controversies for discussion.
Proven experience in event programming or convening high-profile discussions.
Excellent leadership, team development, and stakeholder management.
Strategic thinking and organisation. Commitment to Chatham House’s values of independence, rigour, and inclusion.

Benefits:
Benefits include approximately 37 days annual leave (including public holidays and Chatham House closure days), pension salary exchange, employee assistance programme, parental leave, flexible working and other benefits designed to suit your lifestyle. All of this, in a professional, engaging and intellectually stimulating environment.
Salary: £65,000 per year.
Contract : Full-time, Permanent.
Location : St James's Square, London. This is a hybrid role based in our London office. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite at least 3 days per week, with flexibility around event requirements needed.
