Senior Buyer Capex Projects | Renewable Energy Organisation
Are you an experienced Capex procurement professional with a passion for renewable energy and complex infrastructure projects?
We’re working with a major player in the global low-carbon energy space that’s growing fast in the UK and they’re looking for a Senior Buyer to take the lead on procurement for major industrial and EPC projects, particularly across Renewables , BESS , and Flexible Generation .
This is a greenfield-style role where you’ll have the autonomy to shape procurement strategy, deliver high-impact sourcing solutions, and embed procurement excellence from the ground up. You’ll report directly to the Chief Procurement Officer and work closely with project, finance, legal, and engineering teams to drive procurement success across the full project lifecycle.
What you’ll be doing:
Project Procurement Leadership (55%)
- Lead sourcing for large-scale EPC & industrial projects from early concept to delivery
- Define project procurement plans aligned to cost, quality, and sustainability goals
- Drive category strategies, supplier engagement, and contract negotiation for critical works
- Partner closely with BD teams and project stakeholders to ensure procurement is embedded early
Operational Procurement & Supplier Management (25%)
- Manage sourcing events end-to-end, including tendering, supplier selection, and contracting
- Build supplier partnerships while driving value, innovation, and risk mitigation
- Move the business away from direct awards, creating smart routes to market
- Oversee contract execution, supplier performance, and dispute resolution
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration (10%)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, finance, engineering, and project leads
- Coordinate with UK and European procurement teams, category managers, and global hubs
- Contribute to team culture – knowledge sharing, joint office days, and internal visibility
Procurement Excellence, Data & Sustainability (10%)
- Leverage data and dashboards (Power BI, Power Automate) to track procurement performance
- Champion sustainable sourcing practices – inclusive procurement, CO2 reduction, and CSR compliance
- Support continuous improvement and innovation in procurement processes and systems
What we’re looking for:
- 5-10+ years of Capex procurement experience – ideally across civil, enabling works, EPC/BESS projects
- Proven experience in EPC/EPCm contracting and sourcing for major infrastructure projects
- Expertise in category strategy , TCO modelling , and contract management (NEC, FIDIC, OEM, etc.)
- Strong stakeholder management skills – collaborative, confident, and outcome-driven
- Comfortable in a matrixed, international environment with hands-on responsibility
Skills & Tools:
- Strong knowledge of SAP, Ariba, Power BI, and Microsoft 365
- Able to lead reporting and procurement analytics with support from a Data Analyst
- Deep understanding of market trends in renewables, BESS, and flexible generation
- Familiarity with sustainability and CSR frameworks (inclusive sourcing, carbon goals)
Qualifications:
- Degree qualified (essential); Master’s is a bonus
- CIPS (or actively working toward it)
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport (essential due to site travel)
