The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in West Ealing, you will support pupils with a wide range of special educational needs. You may be working one-to-one with a pupil who has an EHCP , supporting small intervention groups , or providing in-class support to ensure pupils remain engaged and included during lessons. Your role will involve supporting learning, managing emotional and behavioural needs, and helping pupils develop independence over time.
This is a hands-on role that requires adaptability, empathy, and strong communication skills. You will be a consistent and trusted adult for pupils who may struggle with routine changes, social interactions, or emotional regulation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individualised support to pupils with SEN across the school day
Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs, support plans, and behaviour plans
Support pupils with attention, communication, and task engagement
Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs
Encourage positive social interaction and peer relationships
Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff
Monitor progress and contribute to review meetings and reports
Some roles may include personal care or physical support, depending on pupil needs. All such responsibilities will be fully explained, and appropriate training will be provided.
