SENCO Role in a Forward-Thinking Primary School
A Forward-Thinking Primary School in Hillingdon is seeking to appoint a passionate and experienced SENCO to join its leadership team from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will lead the strategic development of SEND provision across the school, ensuring that pupils with additional needs receive personalised support that enables them to thrive both academically and socially.
Working closely with the Headteacher, senior leadership team, class teachers, parents, and external professionals, you will coordinate interventions, oversee Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), monitor pupil progress, and promote high-quality inclusive teaching throughout the school.
This role would suit an experienced SENCO or an ambitious teacher with the National Award for SEN Coordination who is committed to making a lasting difference to the lives of children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the school's SEND provision
Coordinate support for pupils with a wide range of additional needs
Oversee EHCPs, annual reviews, and statutory responsibilities
Support teachers in delivering outstanding inclusive practice
Liaise with parents, local authorities, and external agencies
Monitor pupil progress and evaluate intervention programmes
Deliver staff training and promote best practice in SEND
Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding requirements

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete it where applicable)
Experience supporting pupils with SEND
Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Desirable
Previous experience as a SENCO
Experience managing EHCPs and multi-agency partnerships
Proven ability to improve outcomes for pupils with SEND
Experience leading staff training and promoting whole-school inclusion
