Family Liaison Officer Role in an Inclusive Secondary School
A caring and community-focused Secondary School in Lambeth is seeking to appoint a committed and compassionate Family Liaison Officer to join its pastoral and safeguarding team from September. This is a full-time role within a school that places strong emphasis on inclusion, student wellbeing, and effective partnerships with families.
The school is dedicated to removing barriers to learning and ensuring that all students and their families receive the support they need to thrive both academically and personally.
About the Role
As Family Liaison Officer, you will act as a key point of contact between the school and families, helping to build positive relationships that support attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, and safeguarding.
You will work closely with students, parents/carers, pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff, and external agencies to identify needs early and coordinate effective support. The role will involve providing practical guidance to families, supporting students facing barriers to learning, and promoting engagement between home and school.

Key Responsibilities
Act as a key link between the school and families
Build positive and supportive relationships with parents and carers
Support attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and student wellbeing initiatives
Work alongside safeguarding and pastoral teams to identify and respond to family needs
Signpost families to relevant support services and external agencies
Attend meetings, home visits, and multi-agency discussions where appropriate
Maintain accurate, confidential records of communication and interventions
Help remove barriers to learning and improve family engagement with the school

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Experience working with children, young people, or families in a school or community setting
Strong understanding of safeguarding, attendance, and student wellbeing
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to work sensitively with families facing a range of challenges
Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records
Desirable
Experience in a Family Liaison, Pastoral, Attendance, or Safeguarding role
Knowledge of local support services and multi-agency working
Experience conducting home visits or family meetings
Commitment to inclusion, early intervention, and pupil welfare
