Job Title: Corporate Tax Senior Manager Location: Hybrid Working – London N3 / EC4M / Remote Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 35-hour week (Flexitime) Reporting To: Corporate Tax Director and/or Tax Partner
Salary Range: £80,000 - £90,000

Your Opportunity
The Corporate Tax Senior Manager role is a pivotal position within the organisation, responsible for managing both compliance and non-compliance work. This role involves overseeing the flow of work within the team, ensuring technical competency, and managing client expectations. The Senior Manager is trusted to undertake final reviews of tax computations and is responsible for the team's budget and recovery targets. Additionally, the role requires effective communication of technical issues, winning and billing for additional work, and providing feedback to partners on client relationships. The Senior Manager also plays a crucial role in team management, development, and recruitment, as well as identifying new business opportunities and managing client risks.

How You ’ re Making a Difference
In this role, you will:
Core
Compliance work
Manage the flow of work and workload within the team
Planning client work with technical competency in mind; ensuring that colleagues are appropriately matched to clients and that colleagues are provided with the right level of experience to aid their progression
Trusted to undertake final reviews of tax computations, before they go to Director/Partner level for final sign off
Responsible for the budgets of the team as a whole and ensuring recovery targets are met
Managing client expectations (both internal and external) and ensuring they are satisfied with the service they are receiving from the team
Quoting for new compliance only work
In depth knowledge of professional area and broad knowledge of others
Managing and effectively communicate client risks on technical projects
Project work
Responsible for the budgets of the team as a whole and ensuring recovery targets are met
Able to clearly communicate technical issues and solutions, including highlighting risks, in both email and report communications.
Able to accurately and concisely draft clearances and reports which are technically accurate, which can then be reviewed at Director/Partner level before going to clients
Feedback to Partner or Director on any negative issues that may affect client relationships
Continuously anticipate and manage client expectations
Team management
Taking an active role in the overall development and progression of your direct reports
Support the development of the wider team, through peer reviews, contribution and quarterly reviews, and other feedback loops
Monitor, access and feedback on performance of junior team
Keep partners abreast of progress on client matters
Ability to clearly explain complex technical issues with junior team and clients
Other attributes
Approve and facilitate technical updates to colleagues, Partners and external contacts
A good network internally within the firm and a good working relationship with the member in both ABS and Audit, as well as Company secretarial and Payroll
Developing Business
Identify wider client opportunities and where appropriate refer to other teams
Able to demonstrate “added value”
Prepare scope and quotes which can be reviewed by Director/Partner
Managing Risk
Raise ethical concerns
Awareness of commercial liability and alter where appropriate
Able to say no (internally) where there is a perceived ethical issue
Scoping client engagements with accuracy and due care
Internal Systems
Proficient with office 365 and its many applications, as well as other software including tax return production, CRM, timesheets and more
Additional
Project work
Winning and ensuring fees for additional work performed are agreed and billed
Identifying inefficiencies in processes and presenting alternative solutions
Team management
Lead the building of the department through spotting recruitment needs, obtaining approval and going through the People processes including recruitment.
Support the development of the team and direct reports, through peer reviews, contribution and quarterly reviews, and other feedback loops
Implement disciplinary action with assistance from People & Culture/senior team
Involvement with department structure and progression
