Cover Teacher
A Cover Teacher (or Supply Teacher) steps in when a permanent member of teaching staff is unavailable. You’ll be responsible for maintaining continuity in the classroom by delivering pre-prepared lessons, supporting students’ learning, and ensuring a positive and safe environment for all pupils. Key Responsibilities: Deliver and adapt lesson plans provided by the class teacher to suit the needs of the group
Collaborate with fellow teachers, teaching assistants, and school leadership to maintain a safe and productive learning environment
Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and participation throughout the school day
Supervise students during lessons, breaks, and lunchtime as required
Administer and oversee tests or assessments, ensuring fair and consistent standards
Collect and record completed work for the class teacher’s review
Communicate effectively with staff and, where necessary, parents or carers regarding student progress or concernsWhat Makes an Excellent Cover Teacher?
