Caretaker - Independent School in Southwark
We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and committed Caretaker to join a prestigious independent school in Southwark starting ASAP. In this role, you will ensure that the school premises are well maintained, safe, and functional. You will carry out general maintenance tasks, respond to urgent repairs, and monitor the security of the site. The Caretaker will work closely with teaching and administrative staff to ensure that classrooms, offices, and communal areas are prepared and maintained to the highest standards. The school takes health and safety seriously, and you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Performing general maintenance and repairs across the school site
Monitoring and managing security systems, including locks, alarms, and CCTV
Ensuring the school environment is clean, safe, and well-presented
Responding to urgent maintenance issues as they arise
Assisting with the setup and preparation of school events and activities
Maintaining inventory of equipment and liaising with external contractors when necessary
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role or in facilities management. You will be highly organised, reliable, and capable of working independently while supporting the broader school community. Good communication skills are essential, as the role involves liaising with staff, students, visitors, and contractors. A practical, hands-on approach and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment are key to success in this position.
