The Role: The successful machine minder will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring machinery to ensure efficient and high-quality food production while adhering to strict food safety and hygiene standards. Key responsibilities involve performing routine maintenance, monitoring machine performance, identifying and reporting issues, and working with production teams to meet targets for quality, waste, and yield. Key responsibilities * Machine operation and setup: Setting up machinery according to production requirements, operating it efficiently & ensuring that it runs at optimal performance. * Quality and safety assurance: Monitoring the production process to ensure food quality standards are met, follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), and adhere to strict food safety, hygiene, and high-risk protocols. * Maintenance and troubleshooting: Performing routine maintenance, stripping & cleaning machinery, and identifying and reporting any equipment failures or issues to the engineering team. * Production monitoring: Tracking production output and metrics like yield, waste, and delivery, working with the engineering managers & team to achieve targets. * Team collaboration: Communicating effectively with production leaders, engineers, and other team members to ensure the area operates efficiently and collaboratively. * Record keeping: Maintaining accurate records of machine operation, maintenance, and production. Requirements: * Experience of working in a similar role in engineering as Machine Minder or similar within a food production, ready meal, FMCG factory within the UK. * Mechanical Qualification. * Experience of building & stripping machinery. * Strong attention to detail and observational skills. * Good numeracy and English skills. * Ability to work quickly and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team. * A good attitude and the ability to follow instructions * Good observational skills with a high level of attention to detail to quickly spot issues. * Effective communication skills to work with team members and report issues. * Basic electrical/mechanical engineering aptitude for simple troubleshooting tasks. * The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and, at times, physically demanding environment * Happy to work night shifts – 4 on/4 off. Salary & Benefits: The starting salary for this role is up to around £37,000 per annum (paid hourly) plus benefits including 33 days holiday (including bank holidays back in lieu), pension, life assurance, income protection, extensive discounts for you & your family career growth support, training & mental well-being support.
