Job Overview

Working closely with the SENCo, class teachers, and external specialists, you will deliver tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions for pupils with needs such as Autism (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, and speech and language difficulties. This is a rewarding, hands-on role suited to a patient, organized, and adaptable individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with diverse learning, sensory, and behavioral needs

  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials to ensure pupils can access the curriculum effectively

  • Utilize positive behavior strategies and sensory regulation techniques to keep pupils focused and engaged

  • Foster pupils' confidence, social skills, and academic independence in both classroom and break-time environments

  • Track pupil progress, maintain observational logs, and provide regular updates to the SENCo and class teachers

  • Liaise professionally with parents, external therapists, and pastoral leadership to ensure consistent care

  • Assist the class teacher with general classroom preparation and creating an inclusive learning environment

  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the Learning Support department

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, LSA, or Learning Mentor (ideally within a school setting)

  • Strong knowledge of supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or specific learning difficulties (SpLD)

  • Exceptional patience, emotional resilience, and strong de-escalation skills

  • Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities

  • A dedicated, compassionate, and flexible approach to supporting young learners
