Online Independent Prescribing Programmes
Online Nurse Prescriber Courses can be carried out, these are very far in between and recommend that you go with a qualification that is hands-on and practical.
Locum Meds also recommend that you choose a course which has the V300 Independent Prescribing qualification (Independent and Supplementary Non-Medical Prescribing) incorporated within the course, or you can study this qualification alongside Nurse Practitioner qualifications, make sure you achieve a V300 Independent Prescribing qualification as this will determine your prescribing rights as shown on the NMC website for each individual nurse.
How to become a Certified Nurse Prescriber :
Pharmacists can attain two types of prescribing qualification: independent and supplementary. Independent prescribers, or non-medical prescribers (NMPs), are in a position to give patients timely access to medicines and are ideally placed to optimise and individualise treatment. The NMP takes responsibility for the clinical assessment of the patient, including establishing a diagnosis and prescribing the necessary medicines. Supplementary prescribing, on the other hand, is a voluntary partnership between a doctor or dentist and a supplementary prescriber, who can prescribe medicines within an agreed patient-specific clinical management plan with the patient’s agreement
