Relationship Director - Real Estate Finance

HSBC Global Services Limited
London

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Relationship Director, dealing specifically with the Operational Hotel market.

The Real Estate Finance (REF) business offers an outstanding opportunity to a prospective candidate to undertake a key role within a core sector for both HSBC and the markets in which it operates. You’ll provide dedicated relationship management to a portfolio of customers, with accountability for sales, service, risk, and operational delivery.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you’ll:

  • Maximise profitably by identifying customer needs first and then recommending appropriate solutions for the customer to consider and accept, whilst providing holistic relationship management with accountability for business development, service, risk, and operational delivery.
  • Be an ambassador for HSBC and develop the bank’s profile in the local business and wider community.
  • Supporting customers and placing their needs at the forefront of all that we do, setting world class standards.
  • Seeking new opportunities and nurturing existing relationships to identify new business opportunities.
  • Building a network of business introducers in the local professional and business community.
  • Adhere to structures and processes in place for the management of credit, operational, reputation, financial crime, and regulatory risk.
  • Build a strong understanding of the client's business and industry to promote insights, enrich client conversations and deliver fair outcomes.
  • Contribute to leadership activities including coaching less experienced members of the team, which will be relevant should the candidate seek to apply for future leadership roles.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • First class relationship management skills with a proven track record in a corporate client focused environment and an ability to anticipate clients’ needs and tailor service delivery to them
  • Excellent knowledge of UK corporate financing, products, and services, along with knowledge of structured banking transactions, IPOs, leveraged finance, syndicated loans, private placements, bonds and securitisation and global capital markets
  • Strong ability to manage the competing priorities of deal flows, credit quality and the requirement to drive income
  • Strong understanding of all areas of risk management and processes including restructuring
  • Knowledge of changing economic, social, and governmental environment and how they might affect the hotel sector in the UK
  • Ability to work with colleagues at all levels, with strong ‘team’ skills promoting an environment of co-operation and trust, overcoming resistance where encountered
  • Excellent prioritising, organisation, decision making and time management abilities, with strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with excellent influencing skills and ability to build positive working relationships with our customers, colleagues and stakeholders

Opening up a world of opportunity.

Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve. At HSBC, we’re dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces - no matter their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic background or age. We are committed to removing barriers and ensuring careers at HSBC are inclusive and accessible for everyone to be at their best. We take pride in being a Disability Confident Leader and will offer an interview to people with disabilities, long term conditions or neurodivergent candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
