Adult Safeguarding Social Worker - London Borough of Sutton

Location: London Borough of Sutton

Pay Rate: Up to £32 per hour

Are you a dedicated and experienced Social Worker with a passion for safeguarding? We are seeking a skilled and proactive Adult Safeguarding Social Worker to join the London Borough of Sutton's team.

About the Role

As a key member of the safeguarding team, you will be on the front line of protecting vulnerable adults in the community. You will be responsible for triaging incoming safeguarding referrals, applying your expertise to determine if they meet the threshold for a Section 42 enquiry under the Care Act 2014.

Your role will involve managing complex cases and responding confidently to challenging situations, including those involving self-neglect and domestic abuse. A crucial part of your work will be to formulate effective protection plans that always put the service user's voice and needs first. You will achieve this by working collaboratively with a range of professionals, families, carers, and external agencies to secure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and prioritise a caseload of safeguarding referrals.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to determine if a safeguarding enquiry is required.
  • Develop and implement multi-agency protection plans.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies (e.g., Police, Health Services) to manage and mitigate risk.
  • Provide clear and concise record-keeping and case notes.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in adult safeguarding.

Requirements:

  • A professional Social Work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a safeguarding role.
  • Demonstrable experience in undertaking Section 42 (S42) safeguarding enquiries.
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and crisis situations.
  • Strong communication and partnership-working skills.
  • Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and other relevant safeguarding legislation.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of adults in Sutton, using your skills to ensure their safety and well-being. If you are a resilient and compassionate Social Worker ready for your next challenge, we would love to hear from you.
