Marchant Recruitment
Barnet, Greater London

Shape Young Minds at the Start of Key Stage 1

We are seeking a passionate, nurturing, and dynamic Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Barnet, starting as soon as possible. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to teach pupils at a crucial stage of their education, supporting the transition from Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1, and fostering a love of learning.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering creative, engaging, and high-quality lessons across the curriculum. The school prioritises inclusion, high expectations, and the wellbeing of pupils, seeking a teacher who can inspire children academically, socially, and emotionally.

You will join a collaborative Key Stage 1 team where shared planning, reflective practice, and professional development are valued. Leadership provides guidance, support, and resources to help teachers succeed and grow professionally.

Role Overview

As a Year 1 Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons across the Year 1 curriculum

  • Use assessment to monitor pupil progress and inform future planning

  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and higher-attaining learners

  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and resilience

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leadership

  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development alongside academic growth

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers

  • Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and school-wide initiatives

This position provides the opportunity to make a lasting impact on pupils’ learning, building strong foundations for their educational journey.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1

  • Be confident in curriculum delivery and assessment practices

  • Possess excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be creative, reflective, and adaptable

  • Demonstrate a nurturing and supportive approach

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Early Career Teachers are welcome to apply and will receive mentoring and support.

Why Join This School?

  • Engaged and motivated pupils

  • A positive school culture that values staff wellbeing and inclusion

  • A welcoming, community-focused school environment
