A highly respected Outstanding secondary school in Barnet is seeking an experienced and strategic School Business Manager (SBM) to join its senior leadership support team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced business professional who is passionate about supporting education and ensuring the efficient operation of school systems and resources.
The School Business Manager will play a central role in the operational leadership of the school, overseeing financial management, administrative systems, and the effective use of resources to support student achievement and organisational excellence.
The Role
The School Business Manager will be responsible for managing the school’s operational and financial functions while working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading the strategic management of school finances and budgeting
• Managing financial planning and ensuring effective use of resources
• Overseeing administrative, HR and operational systems across the school
• Managing procurement processes and supplier relationships
• Supporting long-term strategic planning and school improvement initiatives
• Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and governance standards
• Overseeing contracts, facilities management and operational services
• Managing administrative and support staff teams
• Preparing financial reports for governors and leadership
• Supporting risk management and regulatory compliance across the school
This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to oversee multiple operational areas while ensuring efficiency and accountability.

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving ability
• Experience working within education or public sector organisations
A recognised qualification in school business management, finance or leadership would be advantageous.
