History Teacher - Outstanding School - Croydon

A secondary school in Croydon is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable History Teacher to join its Humanities Department. The school is looking for someone who can inspire students to understand the past while developing their ability to analyse evidence and construct convincing historical arguments.

You will teach History across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering a curriculum that combines detailed historical knowledge with source analysis, interpretation and extended writing.

At KS3, students will develop their understanding of key historical periods and events, while at KS4 you will prepare pupils for GCSE through detailed study of the relevant topics and examination requirements.

The successful teacher will make effective use of primary sources, historical interpretations, case studies and debate. Students should be encouraged to question evidence, consider different perspectives and explain historical developments using accurate supporting detail.

You will assess work regularly and provide students with clear feedback on how they can improve their historical writing and examination technique.

History Teacher - Experience and Qualifications

  • History Degree

  • QTS or recognised teaching qualification

  • Secondary History teaching experience

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4

  • GCSE History experience

  • Strong historical subject knowledge

  • Excellent written communication

  • Confidence teaching source analysis and interpretation

  • Effective classroom management

  • Strong planning and assessment skills

  • Ability to motivate students

Salary

The salary for this History Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
