Senior Estimator
Nicholas Associates are recruiting for an Estimator/Senior Estimator, for a fantastically run and well established rc frame and groundworks company, based in Hertfordshire, delivering high-quality civils engineering solutions across London and home Counties.
Due to sustained growth and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking someone to join our experienced commercial team.
The Role
As an Estimator/Senior Estimator, you will play a key role in the tendering process, working closely with our directors, commercial and operational teams to prepare accurate cost estimates for reinforced concrete frame and groundworks projects ranging in value from 1M to 20M.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for RC Frame and groundworks projects from first principles.
- Analyse tender documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings when required.
- Work collaboratively with the operations team to ensure the transition from tender to delivery is smooth.
- Maintain a strong understanding of current market rates and industry trends.
- Support and mentor junior estimators as needed (Senior Estimator level).
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an Estimator in the RC Frame and groundworks sector (UK-based experience essential).
- Proven track record of successfully pricing and winning work.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry regulations.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g., ConQuest, Candy, or similar).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive and detail-oriented approach.
