Specialist Weight Management Service (SWMS) - Team Manager

We’re looking for an operationally strong Team Manager to join the Specialist Weight Management Service (SWMS) at one of the UK’s most exciting health-tech startups. You’ll design and embed the systems and processes that enable our service to scale, while leading a multidisciplinary team of healthcare practitioners to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.

What you’ll do

• Lead and support our SWMS practitioner team: Manage a multidisciplinary team of remote healthcare practitioners, including dietitians, nutritionists, and psychological wellbeing practitioners, creating a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure operational excellence: You’ll simplify complex workflows, reduce friction for your team, and use data to design smarter, more efficient ways of working.
• Build out data dashboards and reporting: You’ll create and maintain dashboards that provide clear visibility of key performance metrics, automate where possible, and make data accessible and easy to understand.
• Drive service mobilisation and development: Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Product, Quality, Engineering, and NHS Partnerships teams to mobilise new specialist weight management services, develop operational processes, and successfully transition services from implementation into sustainable BAU delivery.
• Drive performance and quality: Use operational and quality data to monitor service performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure the team delivers consistently high-quality care and member outcomes.
• Coach development: Deliver regular feedback and coaching to help team members grow in confidence, skill, and impact.

Requirements

What we’re looking for

• Experience managing or leading a multidisciplinary healthcare team or specialist weight management service: You understand the operational and clinical complexities of delivering healthcare services at scale, ideally within an NHS or digitally enabled healthcare environment
• Proven people management experience with a track record of developing, supporting, and motivating high-performing healthcare teams.
• Strong operational and analytical skills: Able to use data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, and translate insights into practical, measurable solutions.
• Experience building and using data dashboards and reporting: Able to build and maintain dashboards, track meaningful KPIs, automate reporting where possible, and turn operational data into clear insights and actions.
• Service mobilisation and implementation experience: Proven ability to help design, launch, and operationalise new healthcare services, processes, or ways of working, and transition them successfully into BAU.
• Proactive, solution-oriented, and resilient: Not afraid to roll up your sleeves, navigate ambiguity, and make things happen in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and feedback skills , able to build trust, influence stakeholders, support teams, and create a culture of accountability.
• Passion for health, wellbeing, and behaviour change , with excitement about the role technology can play in improving health outcomes and transforming lives.
• Confident working autonomously and collaboratively across multiple functions in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
• Strong tech literacy: Comfortable learning and using a range of digital tools, systems, and data platforms, and working independently from a laptop 5 days per week (Monday to Friday), 40 hours per week.

Nice to have:

• Background in dietetics, nutrition, psychology, or health coaching (HCPC or AfN registration is welcome but not required)
• Experience working in a digital health, NHS, healthcare, or high-growth startup environment
• A solid understanding of obesity and related conditions
• Familiarity with the latest health behaviour change science.

Working at Second Nature

We embrace a hybrid model that balances flexibility with connection:

• London-based: 1–2 days per week in the office
• Remote (UK-based): Once per month in the office

This approach allows for meaningful collaboration and space to do focused work.
