Day Rate: £300 – £350 per day (depending on experience)
Reporting To: Project Manager / Senior Project Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to oversee the site delivery of mechanical works across commercial and pharmaceutical projects .
Projects typically involve mechanical and plumbing packages valued between £1m-£2m , delivered within live, quality-critical environments. This is a hands-on, site-based role , responsible for ensuring mechanical installations are delivered safely, to programme, and to specification.
The Construction Manager will act as the key link between site supervision and project management, maintaining control over labour, plant, logistics, and technical coordination.

Scope: Mechanical & plumbing works (pipework, heating, cooling, associated services)
Package values: Typically £1m – £2m
Delivery: Live environments requiring strong H&S, QA, and programme control
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
Manage day-to-day delivery of mechanical works on site
Ensure works progress in line with programme, drawings, and specification
Provide daily progress updates and site photos to the Project Manager
Assist with variation substantiation and supporting information
Coordinate prefabricated mechanical deliveries and installation sequencing
Track plant, tools, and hire equipment on site, including off-hire records
Liaise with QA teams to ensure all equipment is compliant and PAT tested
Site Leadership & Health & Safety
Lead and coordinate daily mechanical site activities
Manage mechanical supervisors, operatives, and subcontractors
Conduct daily safe starts, toolbox talks, RAMS briefings, and permit-to-work processes
Enforce all health & safety standards and site procedures
Allocate daily tasks and manage labour resources efficiently
Address attendance, conduct, and performance issues on site
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site organisation
Technical Oversight
Review mechanical and plumbing drawings with supervisors
Identify coordination, buildability, or interface issues early
Assist in resolving technical queries with design and delivery teams
Support inspections, testing, and quality assurance processes
Labour & Resource Management
Manage labour levels in line with programme and workload
Liaise with labour controllers on weekly labour requirements
Provide regular updates on labour output, material needs, and site risks
Client & Stakeholder Interface
Act as the day-to-day mechanical site contact
Attend progress and coordination meetings as required
Work closely with Project Managers, consultants, and client representatives
Represent the business professionally on site at all times
Candidate Requirements
NVQ Level 6 in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering , or equivalent experience
SMSTS certification
CSCS Black Card
First Aid at Work (desirable)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical site supervision or construction management
Strong background in mechanical & plumbing systems (pipework, heating, cooling)
Experience working in commercial and/or pharmaceutical environments
Proven track record delivering mechanical packages safely, on time, and to quality standards
Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures and compliance
