Nursery Assistant in Barnes
Nursery Assistant in Barnes - Brand New Boutique Nursery
Up to £32,000 salary
Location: Barnes, Richmond upon Thames, SW London (SW13)
Our client is a brand new, boutique nursery opening in Barnes in January 2027, founded by a former nursery teacher turned child therapist with a masters in play therapy. They're looking for a warm and reliable Nursery Assistant to help launch a calm, attachment-informed setting from the very beginning, supporting the day-to-day care of children aged nine months to five years.
This is a rare chance to be part of a nursery's story from before it even opens, joining a small founding team and helping build the warm, relationship-focused feel of the setting from day one. The nursery has been designed with real thought, full of natural light, and built around the idea that children thrive through strong relationships and thoughtful, child-led environments.
On offer is a salary of up to £30k, paid training ahead of opening to get you fully up to speed, and a genuinely supportive culture where wellbeing is built into everyday practice.
Working pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with shift patterns of 7:30am-4:30pm or 9am-6pm. On-site training and induction will start in December ahead of the January 2027 opening.
Key responsibilities:
Care and supervision: Support the day-to-day care and supervision of children aged nine months to five years, helping prepare and tidy learning spaces and resources.
Environment: Help create a calm, nurturing and stimulating environment that supports children's play, learning and development.
Relationships: Build positive, responsive relationships with children.
Daily routines and safety: Assist with daily routines including mealtimes, sleep and personal care, following safeguarding and health and safety procedures at all times.
About you:
Approach: A genuine love of working with young children, with a warm, patient and emotionally attuned manner.
Team fit: Reliable, proactive and a strong team player, comfortable helping a brand new setting find its feet.
Language and communication: A highly fluent English speaker, with good communication skills.
Experience and qualifications: Previous experience in a nursery or early years setting and a Level 3 qualification in Early Years are desirable, though not essential.
What's in it for you:
Salary of £30k.
A rare opportunity to help shape a brand new nursery from its opening day.
Wellbeing support and supervision embedded into the staff culture.
Ongoing training and professional development opportunities, backed by a dedicated annual training budget.
26 days annual leave (including public holidays), rising by a day for each year served up to five years, plus nursery closure between Christmas and New Year.
