Social Media Manager
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000
Location: Old Street, London - Hybrid 2 days/week in office
Experience: 3+ years managing social media
An indefinite right to work in the UK is required - we don't sponsor visas for this role
About Elder
Elder is a tech-enabled health marketplace. We connect older adults with self-employed carers through an introductory model built on technology and trust. Families come to us at one of the most difficult moments in their lives - navigating care for an ageing parent - and we help them find the right carer with confidence.
We're a mission-driven scale-up based in London. Our marketing team is small, tight, and owns its work end-to-end. No agencies. No hand-offs. Just a team that moves quickly and has real accountability for outcomes.
The Opportunity
Most social media roles are about maintaining what exists. This one isn't. It’s about finding the stories and topics that really matter to our audience and positioning Elder as a leader in the care space.
Our social presence has real room to grow, and we're looking for someone to define what that looks like. You'll have genuine latitude to experiment with formats, channels and content strategies, guided by one clear north star: resonating with the adults aged 45–65 who are making complex, emotional decisions about care for their parents.
You'll know you're succeeding when customers mention something they saw on social media in their first phone call with our team. That's the bar - content that reaches people and means something to them.
You'll work closely with our Paid Media Lead, ensuring organic and paid activity reinforce each other, and with the wider marketing team to align social with campaigns, landing pages and conversion goals. You'll own the channel, and you'll be trusted to run it.
What You'll Do
• Own and evolve our organic social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and emerging platforms
• Define and test content strategies built around our audience in order to grow it
• Film, edit and produce short-form video and other social-first content yourself. Capture authentic brand moments, testimonials and educational content
• Run structured experiments designed to improve engagement, traffic and lead generation
• Identify thoughtful ways to move audiences from social to learning more about Elder
• Track performance including reach, engagement, traffic and conversions - and report on what's working
• Work closely with the wider marketing team to keep social aligned with broader campaign goals
About You
You are a self-starter who understands how platforms work. You're curious and like experimenting, but you also care about impact beyond likes and impressions.
You're comfortable behind the camera and confident capturing authentic, human stories in a sensitive way. And you connect creative ideas to measurable outcomes.
Crucially, you can adapt tone, messaging and format to resonate with our audience: adults who are navigating a difficult and emotional moment, facing a big decision about the best care for their loved one.
Must-Haves
• At least 3 years' experience managing social media - creating engaging content, including filming and editing video
• You’re creative and enjoy coming up with original ideas
• Analytical approach — you use data to inform content decisions
• Clear understanding of how social media can drive traffic and leads
• Strong copywriting skills, including empathetic writing for sensitive topics
• Strong awareness of platform trends and developments
Bonus Points For
• Experience in healthcare, care or other trust-based sectors
Why Elder
You won't be maintaining a playbook - you'll be writing one. Elder's social presence is yours to shape, with a real audience, a real mission, and real commercial stakes attached.
The creative challenge here is genuinely interesting: reaching and reassuring people who are stressed, time-poor and making a big decision.
You'll work in a lean marketing team where everyone owns their area and has direct impact. We move quickly and with conviction, and give people the space to do their best work.
• Competitive salary: £40,000 – £50,000 (based on experience) and a range of other benefits
• Mission-driven work with real human impact
• Ownership from day 1
• Close collaboration with an experienced team that will help you learn and propel your career forward
• A fun office near Old Street, hybrid working (2 days/week in office)
